A National Emergency Management Agency Districts 2 and 3 meeting held at N.E.M.A Headquarters yesterday Monday, 20th July, 2015 is being dubbed a RESOUNDING SUCCESS by several key stakeholders from across the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Chaired by Ms. Nadia St. Catherine, the meeting started at around 5:30 pm with welcome and prayer.
N.E.M.A updates were presented by Coordinator Telca Wallace and Basseterre's Mr. Fough enthused the gathering with a thorough and inspiring presentation and shared of his years of experience working with the organization.
Fough reminded the gathering, as I remind you now, of HOW IMPORTANT AND REWARDING volunteering and serving society can be.
Several items that came up for discussion on the agenda were:
* Community support for disaster preparation
* Upcoming courses in shelter management and damage assessment
* Current condition of emergency shelters in Districts 2 and 3 for Hurricane Season 2015
* Recruiting volunteers to assist
* Disaster mitigation awareness programme
Several attendees used the opportunity to offer commendations to N.E.M.A and give fresh ideas. Nearly everyone was overly happy to grab informational brochures on how to be prepared and what to do before, during and after earthquakes, landslides, hurricanes and many other disasters.
Certainly, the St. Kitts - Nevis N.E.M.A Meeting held yesterday, Monday, 20th July, 2015 was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS.
