Mr & Mrs. Bert Hanley

Some youths spend many years learning skills and trying to acquire talents. There are others, such as Bert "SoldierBless" Hanley who are born with such talents. This outside the box, down to earth young man has a passion for Jesus and ministers through song.

Bert Hanley was born in Nevis on 19th of August, 1977 in a Christian home and had an interest for music at a very tender age.  He always had a love for Reggae Dancehall music and his greatest influences were; BujuBanton, Shaba Ranks, Chaka Demus, Pliers, Papa San, Lt. Stichie, and Christafari.

Bert received the name “Blessings” as he always greeted people by saying… “Blessings” instead of hello or good morning, or whatever time of the day it was. However, his name was changed in 2010, as he prayed and meditated on who he really was.

When he looked back at his life and he saw that he survived all he had been through, he concluded that he really had to be a soldier to survive, and that he’s truly blessed. When he placed the word together, he became, “SOLDIER- BLESS.”

In the year 1988, Soldier – Bless migrated to the sister Island, St. Kitts where he was devastated by the crime and violence taking place around him. He always had a passion to see youths arise to their full potential in Christ, and he sought God’s face on a way to reach them.

While on his knees, an unexpected answer was given from God; “Reggae Music.”

Having no idea of being a singer, but only a musician, he trusted God and hosted the first ever “REGGAE SPLASH DOWN” in 2002. This event has been kept annually in St. Kitts with the exceptions of the years 2004 and 2007. In the year 2005 R.S.K.B. (Radical Saints Doing The King’s Business), was formed and he became the President of the Ministry which hosts this Annual event.

Soldier – Bless participated in a Reggae Contest in the Annual Jubilee Celebrations in 2005 consisting of seven (7) participants and emerged the winner with his first ever single, “BE FREE.”. Soldier – Bless features on R.S.K.B. Compilation Album featuring artistes such as M1, Minister L.K., Pepper Ranks, just to name a few.

He also features on the compilation albums… Salvation Riddim, De Holy Riddim, Live Life Riddim, End Times Riddim, God Business Riddim, No Fear Riddim, Christ In Charge Riddim, Poor Riddim, Fisher Of Men Riddim, and Cross over riddim . Soldier – Bless launched his personal album, “HEART OF THE LION”) with15 (fifteen) tracks, at the 12th (twelfth) Annual Reggae Splash Down in 2015.

With his favorite quote being – “HEART OF THE LION – TOUGH LIKE IRON.”Soldier – Bless sees himself as bold, brave and strong as a lion in Jesus Christ his Lord and encourages his fellow Christian Soldiers especially on stage by saying…. “Leh me hear de Lion Roar!!!” to remind them that in Christ Jesus we need not fear because….. “the righteous are as bold as a lion.”
