The Water Services Department in both St. Kitts and Nevis continues to do a SUPERB job over the years and must be highly commended.
Before I get into the meat of what I want to say, I must stress here and again the CRITICAL IMPORTANCE of us, as a growing independent nation to see the importance of not just recognizing one's FLAWS, but highlighting and saluting the successes and accomplishment of OTHERS.
It is quite sad that our local, regional and international media houses spend 98% of their time and resources reporting on the NEGATIVE STORIES AND POLITICAL MANEUVERING of the already RICH and tend to forget the many ordinary citizens who are doing EXTRA-ORDINARY things to greatly impact and keep the world going.
A few weeks ago, while take my morning walk, I was overly shocked to see a few men from The St. Kitts Water Services Department WORKING ON A PUBLIC HOLIDAY. I drew near and spoke with them a bit and THANKED them on behalf of The Trinity Community for the work that they were doing and continued to do over the years.
They smiled! They seemed to APPRECIATE the fact that they were being recognized with a SIMPLE THANK YOU.
Thank you does go a very long way! Recognition doesn't always have to be in the form of MONEY or a GIFT or a FRUIT BASKET. A simple THANK YOU FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE can indeed move a heart.
If we are to GROW, we must change the mentality of only calling The Water Department's name when THERE IS NO WATER or the electricity department's name WHEN THERE IS NO ELECTRICITY or the Cable or Internet Service Provider's name WHEN THERE IS NO CABLE OR INTERNET or the AIRCON MAN's name when our AIR CONDITIONER has suddenly stopped working. You catch where I am coming from right?
The ordinary people, who work the hardest for us in the HOT SUN and many times are paid the least, often many times go UNAPPRECIATED - GLOBALLY. This is the COLD TRUTH and I recommend that this should STOP from today!
Let's begin to practice the art of LOVING AND CARING AND APPRECIATING those who do not necessarily sit most day in an office behind a computer like you and I, but spend most of their day in the hot sun in St. Kitts and Nevis, across the wider Caribbean and world or in snowing rural communities, working HARD, just to ensure that we can continue to be comfortable and receive the services that are required to keep us HAPPY AND SURVIVING.
Therefore, to all the men and women who serve locally, regionally and internationally in the Water Services, Electricity Services, Air Conditioning Services, Cable, Telephone and Internet Services, Landscaping and Window Cleaning Services, Construction Services, Fishing Services and more, on behalf of The Trinity - St. Kitts Community, we say A BIG THANK YOU FOR THE WORK THAT YOU CONTINUE TO DO GLOBALLY TO ENSURE THAT THE POOR AND THE RICH ALIKE CAN CONTINUE TO SURVIVE AND LIVE COMFORTABLY.
WE LOVE YOU!
