St. Kitts - Nevis Ready For Tropical Storm / Hurricane Danny

Deputy Prime Minister of The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis ordered that the 1st Emergency Disaster Mitigation Council Meeting be called today Wednesday, 19th August, 2015 at 2 pm at The National Emergency Management Agency headquarters at Limekiln Commercial Park, St. Kitts.

The emergency meeting was chaired by NEMA Coordinator Carl Herbert and saw presentations from Senator Wendy Phipps, Senior Met Officer, representatives from the Ministries of Health, Public Works, SCASPA, Shipping and others.

NEMA Representative Telca Wallace, was invited by Senator Wendy Phipps to give an update on the readiness of the Emergency Shelters and several questions from those in attendance got commendable responses.

Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards officially ended the meeting and begged those present to mobilize their subordinates, groups and families all in an effort to get the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis in a state of readiness for Tropical Storm Danny which is expected to increase to hurricane strength early next week.
