Report By: Brother Khrystus V. K . Wallace, The Next Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis
Dance Legend from the
Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mrs. Andrea Caines-Adedeji sat with and spoke
to the Dare 2 Be Different International Media Department recently. During her
interview, one of her many statements that stood out was this, “I LOVE
CHILDREN.”
Mrs. Caines-Adedji who
has being dancing, directing and offering her choreographer skills over the
years is currently working on completing her online studies with HIGHER PRAISE
DANCE ACADEMY. When asked why she
chose to study online, a caring Mrs. Caines-Adedeji said, “I really don’t have
the heart to leave the Federation because of my responsibility with the dance
ministry and nurturing the girls who God has placed under my care.”
Mrs. Caines-Adedeji said that
she decided to focus her career studies in Dance over any other field because
she feels that there is much scope in the not too distant future in the DRAMA
and ARTS. She said, “St. Kitts and Nevis is changing. The world is changing
too. I believe very soon, in the not too distant future, both males and females
would be able to make a full time income from dancing as they get roles in
commercials, movies, recitals all around the world. Directors and Movie Producers would be looking for such people and it is important the our girls get the training and exposure in their youth.”
Mrs. Caines-Adedeji
continued, “Apart from the financial aspect though, Dancing is Godly. It is a way
of expressing one’s self. It is a way of relaxing the mind. It is therapy for
the soul.”
When asked what makes
her Dance School different from all others, Mrs. Caines-Adedeji was very quick
to say, “We train our dance gems in a CHRISTIAN
SETTING. We are not just concerned about them coming to dance, but we
try our best to instill MORALS and DISCIPLINE and share the WORD OF
GOD.”
Mrs. Caines-Adedeji commented,
“The Youth Outreach Dance Ministry is a Christ-Centred Ministry. The true heart
of the ministry is to honour and worship the Lord. We offer instruction mainly
in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, Afro-Caribbean and basic gymnastics. We dance to
worship songs and contemporary songs too.”
The dance ministry has
been around since 2001 and follows a mission theme – TO KNOW
HIM AND MAKE
HIM KNOWN! Mrs. Caines-Adedeji
who has been dancing for some 21 years, got saved 14 years ago and immediately
got on fire for Christ using her dance skills.
The Ministry sends out
yet another invitation to parents to register their children immediately. All
interested dancers between 4 – 18 years can join. Orientation is scheduled to
take place on Saturday 31st May,2014 at the The McKnight Community Centre from
10:00 am – 11:00 am and Mrs. Caines-Adedeji can be reached at 869-765-5931.
