The Commander Alexis Joseph Drum Core led the Child Month 2014 March through the streets of Basseterre this morning proving that there are still citizens of The Twin Island Federation of St. Kitts - Nevis stilling doing all in their power to keep young people positively occupied and learning talents and skills.
The youths, ably led by Drum Commander and St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force Soldier, Sir Alexis Joseph, drummed confidently and danced from left to right as they led the procession of thousands of children, parents and teachers.
Onlookers as well as children and adults could be seen moving and shaking to the mixture of rhythms played by the group. What was quite outstanding, was to see Commander Alexis Joseph exerting all his energy as he marched, led, danced and moved his command instrument up and down in the air.
Child Month Celebrations are held annually during the month of June for the past thirty years. The Early Childhood Unit is headed by Mrs. Morris which falls under The Ministry of Education headed by Senator Nigel Carty of The Dr. Denzil Douglas Labour Party Administration..
Senator Nigel Carty and Honourable Marcella Liburd were ably visible to the front as they celebrated with the CHILDREN, parents and Early Childhood teachers of the Nation
