I believe that TECHNOLOGY has destroyed us and divided us!
Let's think of it! Put away all of the banners of religion. Baptist - Catholic - Church of God - Dare 2 Be Different International - Jehovah Witness etc etc etc
Put away all the banners of POLITICS. Blazing Star Movement - www.theblazingstarmovement.com, The Old Labour and The New Labour and The Unity and The CCM and The NRP and the other fellows.
We are in fact ONE RACE - THE HUMAN RACE! No matter our colour or size or shape or language or island where we live. WE ARE ONE RACE - THE HUMAN RACE even though we stay battling for territory and financial assets.
Whether there are more POSITIVES or NEGATIVES to be derived from the current overuse of technology would need a more comprehensive investigation. Probably one day I'll conduct some research, carry out some PSYCHO-ANALYSIS interviews and experiments and use cognitive psychology and present my results in a THESIS PAPER and let you agree or disagree with me.
I still believe though, that TECHNOLOGY has destroyed us and divided us!
It's always nice when a reporter shares his own story. It appeals to his/her audience the most.
In years past, when I would wake at mornings, I enjoyed quickly going to the room of my parents and brothers and being first to say GOOD MORNING and sometimes spend a little while and say what I dreamed and ask them what they think it meant. That use to be fun sharing dreams. EN TIT!
I used to enjoy my mother turning on the living room radio to TBN's Radio Paradise for the entire family to get some spiritual upliftment before we go off to school. As I type, I remember songs like, "LET'S GO FORWARD FOR GOD!" and "WALKING UP THE KING'S HIGHWAY" by Joseph Niles.
My Caribbean Readers would moreso remember those songs and artistes.
NOW. . . .I send a morning WHATSAPP and when I get a response, I know that they are ALIVE. I am sometimes only encouraged to move out my bed if the response takes too long to come, so I try to ease in their quarters to see if they are DEAD OR ALIVE.
If they are still sleeping, I watch to make sure the SHEET moves up and down with the breathing patterns and then I go back down to my bedroom to MOTIVATE THE WORLD with texts and whatsapp messages. (Some of you get them RIGHT?)
Let's look at it! Hasn't TECHNOLOGY destroyed the BOND I once had and the LOVING THINGS I used to do?
I'm sure it's probably the very same thing with you!
What's the first thing we grab when we awake at mornings or in the middle of the night and can't sleep? It's usually or TECHNOLOGICAL DEVICE - OUR PHONES - RIGHT?
Back then, it use to be our DAILY BREAD DEVOTIONAL READINGS OR OUR BIBLE OR TESTAMENT! What has changed that? TECHNOLOGY!
TECHNOLOGY has destroyed us and divided us!
"Don't come with that!" I know you're probably saying that YOUR BIBLE IS ON YOUR PHONE. I have one on my phone and I DO NOT READ IT ON MY PHONE AT ALL. I started using it to preach some years back, but then GOD told me that was just a BIG DISTRACTION, so I stopped!
Probably if I wasn't a preacher and didn't have to prepare sermons for my Dare 2 Be Different International - www.daretobedifferentskn.com following and devotionals for you my following, TECHNOLOGY would have taken away my BIBLE READING AND STUDY TIME TOO! Just like Technology has probably taken away YOUR CRUCIAL DAILY TIME WITH GOD!
You've substituted it to watching videos and sharing videos on your phone and POSTING SELFIE's RIGHT?
Let me be honest though and shed some more light on that. While I do not read my BIBLE on my phone, I do have it on my computer. For some time, I stopped going into a my Ministry Office to study the word. When I did that, I did notice that the the DEVIL was using all the other DISTRACTIONS on my desktop to cause me to lose focus.
My emails were open while studying and preparing a sermon or a devotional and every now and again, a sound would alert me that one came in. Then a facebook message or notification to say someone liked a picture or posted in a group.
Then, since my embroidery machine that I use at my t-shirt printing business KVK ENTERPRISES - www.kvklives.com is in my main office, I would sometimes be tempted to set an order to embroider while I was preparing a sermon or devotional and then a thread would break and the machine would start BEEPING to alert me to come by and fix it and what would I do? INTERRUPT GOD'S TIME - to fulfill my selfish desires.

I had to get the rid of that LEARNED BEHAVIOUR of trying to focus on everything all at once in this fast paced world, according to Cognitive Psychologists and FOCUS MY EFFORTS - still on multiple things, but JUST ONE AT A TIME. When I did, my life was more refreshed and honestly, your global communication into our ministry to say how much our writings bless you, INCREASED!
Therefore, I decided to continue doing it the old time way - Picking up my KING JAMES VERSION OF THE BIBLE - Using Manual Commentaries and Bible Notes in my Dare 2 Be Different Office and studying away from the all the TECHNOLOGICAL AND OTHER distractions. That, I believe gives THE LORD an opportunity to speak to me so that I can speak to you and EMPOWER you all around the world.
Let me be HONEST AGAIN. As I type, this just came to me. I haven't heard the voices of many friends and family members in a long time. WHY? Simply because they are just a WHATSAPP CHAT AWAY! A FACEBOOK CHAT A WAY! A VIBER MESSAGE AWAY! A TEXT AWAY! An email away. Very few of us do make time to CALL AND HEAR A VOICE NOW - en tit?
Honestly! That isn't good! TECHNOLOGY has destroyed us and divided us!
In closing, I want to say here that MANY OF US have become SELFISH - TO OURSELVES - ALL ABOUT ME AND LESS ABOUT OTHERS ATTITUDES as we have been caught in the SELFISH - SELFIE TECHNOLOGICAL TRAP!

When last have you taken up your BIBLE, probably DUSTED IT OFF, called your family together, wife, husband, children, grandparents, other relatives and read a scripture TOGETHER? Said a prayer TOGETHER? Sang a song TOGETHER?
Family Time Still Makes The Biggest Difference!
True Family Time around the DINNER TABLE, where everyone turns their CELL PHONES OFF and talk and communicate and share life experiences that would definitely build morale - character - self esteem can go a long, long way in HELPING TO SAVE A RELATIONSHIP - A FAMILY - A WORLD!
ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST, once we are WILLING to unlearn OUR LEARNED TECHNOLOGICAL CLINGY BEHAVIOUR that is destroying and dividing us DAILY.
When last, have you called your friend instead of WHATSAPPING HIM OR HER - just to give your DEVOTED TIME AND EARS TO LISTEN?
When last have you facebook messaged a buddy and said, "Hey let's go sit near the sea shore tonight and enjoy the moonlight and the stars or lets just go walk up and down and talk and have some fun."
Why do you always have to head to OOVOO or SKYPE when you want to have a FACE to FACE chat with a family member or friend? I'm sure, even in this tight economy, you must be able to find a place that sells $10 food where you can sit and chill and talk?
Instead of sending your wife or girl friend electronic hugs and flowers all the time and telling her that you love her. Why not call Gary's Fruits and Flowers in St. Kitts TODAY and not ask him to deliver it to your wife or girl friend, but rather DELIVER IT TO YOU, so you can take it home and surprise your WIFE, caress her and surprise her with some BEDROOM BUSINESS TONIGHT - or surprisingly take it to her JOB - WOMEN LIKE THAT TYPE OF ATTENTION - it makes them feel special. MAN UP AND SURPRISE YOUR HONEY - must I tell you EVERYTHING?
Don't do any BEDROOM BUSINESS with your girl friend though after a delivery! She'll think that you just did something special for her because you want SEX in return. Just SURPRISE HER - AND LOOK FOR NOTHING IN RETURN! That will THRILL HER and make her LOVE YOU MORE!
Sometimes we have to COME OUT OF THE ME WORLD - THE SELFISH WORLD - A FANTASY WORLD THAT TECHNOLOGY HAS CREATED AND REMEMBER THAT THERE IS A REAL WORLD - A WORLD FULL OF OTHER PEOPLE - WHO ARE WAITING FOR OUR TENDER - I CARE - OUR TENDER KISS - OUR TENDER HUG - A FEW SECONDS OF OUR TIME.
Let's AIM TO BE DIFFERENT FROM TODAY! Let's NOT let TECHNOLOGY DESTROY AND DIVIDE US ANYMORE! Do you remember the little song? "It's LOVE - It's Love - It's LOVE that makes the world go round!"
YOU CAN'T GIVE TRUE LOVE THROUGH TECHNOLOGY! That's artificial! Opening the car door for her, being patient when she's still not ready and you're late for WORK, will show what TRUE LOVE IS.
Did I tell her that's it's QUITE OK TO HOLD HER HAND IN PUBLIC and not just put up her picture in your WHATSAPP STATUS? BE DIFFERENT!

In closing, you've probably asked what caused me to suddenly pen this piece. Here's WHY, "Yesterday evening, some college girls ventured into my business place at BOYDS - ST. KITTS and demanded some school work help. I honestly only knew ONE, but they ventured into my place, turned on my computers and took out their school work and demanded that I help them.
I said, "That's really not how you do things, you have to make an appointment and let me know that you're coming so I can adjust my schedule to fit you in. How do you know that I'm not going out or have something to do?"
One daring girl said, "Well Mr. Wallace, the WHOLE WORLD know that you ain't got nothing to do but to sit down and write on the internet and post on facebook all the time. You must come out of that world sometimes and help people SOMETIMES."
She continued, "Plus, you ain't a POLITICIAN? Politicians suppose to help people and I can't go to DOUGIE now because he ain't and answer he phone and I can't find TIM, so a come to you. Is you going want me vote in the future. So let me know if you going run me now. "
I admired her outspoken attitude as she spoke fearlessly on behalf of her group. She was like me - NOT TAKING NO FOR AN ANSWER. I didn't put up a further fight.
I didn't explain that I am still quite active in ministry and community activities and it's not that I am living in a selfish world and not helping. I let her get the upper hand and I helped them all with their projects.
I had already seen that they were under pressure to submit what ever assignment, so I just helped. I honestly know how that is. After leaving late in the evening, they asked me the total cost for my time and printing and I was just led to say - "That's OK!" Even though that isn't standard Dare 2 Be Different Academy - www.daretobedifferentacademy.com practice.
Why? Their WORDS got me thinking! AM I LIVING IN A SELFISH TECHNOLOGICAL WORLD FAILING TO DO ENOUGH TO HELP HUMANITY?
