Brother Khrystus, "I'm AFRAID of my teacher!" "I was molested!"

28th April, 2014

By: Brother Khrystus Wallace, Dare 2 Be Different International Media Department

I'm not a trained teacher but I  LOVE  TEACHING. I doubt I would ever make it a full time career in my life though. I just enjoy helping students and adults during the afternoon-evenings at my Dare 2 Be Different International Academy (Previously known as the KVK Learning Institute) that I started at age 16 after graduating Valedictorian from The Verchilds High School. I've been doing this since September 2002 up until today. Hundreds of children, youth and adults students have passed through my hands, especially with regards to Computer Training. From teachers, to education officers, to bankers, to business managers, lawyers and the like.

Also, I am humbled to say that I taught the most students how to use the computer or helped them better their Information Technology skills for several months as a tutor of the Government Run YES Programme that hired my consulting firm - KW Consulting - www.kwconsultingskn.com and Computer School - The CompuDoctors several years ago.

My mom, Mrs. Yvette Wallace, M.Ed received her final degree in International Education Management in LEEDS - ENGLAND and she always ensures that my strategies and techniques are up to par. When I first started teaching as a little boy at age 16, she didn't give me a rigorous teacher-training course. All she said was, "Khrystus, ensure that you give your students lots of love, care and attention as you teach them properly and they will end up learning, shining and being successful."

I thought then, that that wasn't any good piece of advice, but never told her that. I honestly thought she would give me lots of books on how to teach, but she never did. She guided me carefully and brought me to where I am today.

Over the years, I've noticed that many of the children and youth who parents enroll for extra classes at my Academy are not any dummies or slow learners at all when I start teaching them. Some who come to me having been placed in a LOW  STREAM don't deserve where they are. I believe many of them are more brilliant than I am and I see them reaching far. Several years ago, a parent from Sandy Point brought her son to me having been kicked out of school in 4th Form. From the September to the May, in nine (9) short months, I taught him and paid myself for him to write four (4) CXC subjects to prove a point. He did himself proud, his mother proud and he helped me PROVE  A  POINT! Some children who are kicked out of school only needed an extra helping hand. An extra tender I CARE. A personal mentor and motivator in order to make it. After that, he was more excited about learning than EINSTEIN himself and he is well placed in an good institution TODAY, all because HIS  MOTHER  NEVER  LOST  HOPE  that  something BETTER  LAID  DEEPER  INSIDE  HER  CHILD. May God bless that mother and all other mothers and fathers like that. Those that TRULY  CARE!

Many times, I ask these students why did their parents enroll them for class when they are learning so quickly and easily when I teach. They really shouldn't let their parents waste their monies like that. I beg them to tell me the problem and most of them respond and say, "I'm AFRAID of my teacher" or "Me Teacher does give too mucha SHAME"  or  "I don't ask teacha to explain again because she / he does call people stupid and dunce and hard head" and last week I was stunned, two students from two different homes who are in the class of the same teacher at a particular school in ST. KITTS said, "We teacher does swear after us. So nobody does ask any questions."

I sat in AWE that that was happening in St. Kitts! Yes in St. Kitts! (Note well though. This is a RARE  CASE)

I then asked, "Aren't you afraid of me?" One child responded. "Brother Khrystus, you very, very strict and serious with us and yet we ain't fraid you. You're a very serious man, yet you're so much fun. You make learning feel so easy. We could ask you anything and you don't get vex. It's like something is wrong with you. Children could be hegging you and you don't get angry or frustrated. NOT  MY  MUDDA  YOU  KNOW. She ain't got no patience at all."

"We could keep asking you over and over and over again to explain something and you just remain cool. We school teacher woulda dun stupes she teeth and the class woulda say SHAME. Even when a lot of people here, you take time out with all of us, make sure we understand, make sure we homework do properly, make sure you sit with us and research homework on the computer and print it out with pictures. Brother Khrystus, you're the best and if we want help when we gone, we can call you or send you a message on facebook or whatapps and you going to still help us. Brother Khrystus, you ain't got nothing else to do nuh?"

Another child asked, "Brother Khrystus, you sure you ain't got no children? How you learn to love and help children like that?" I just smiled and said I still don't have any children. I was honestly very happy to hear the children talking about me like this. It felt so genuine. Especially because in St. Kitts and Nevis, people only HIGHLIGHT  your NEGATIVES and wait for you to fall, to talk and laugh out loud and rarely tell you when you're doing a GOOD  JOB

While I do believe that there are teachers that are trying their utmost best to give LOVE, CARE and ATTENTION to the students they teach, there are still teachers that believe that in this 21st Century, using the FEAR  TACTIC in teaching works. LUDICROUS! A thousand times OVER!

Children and Youth have the MOST SENSITIVE  FEELINGS around. Although the may be disgusting at times, very loud at times, sometimes very reserved at times, I personally believe that if we are to create a WELL  EDUCATED,  LASTING  AND  SUCCESSFUL  FUTURE  GENERATION, it is imperative that we understand them NOW - while they are young so that we can be better equipped to help them, keep them properly empowered and their minds well focused on DOING  RIGHT!

No child in St. Kitts and Nevis, the wider Caribbean and the world should ever be saying that they are afraid of THEIR  TEACHER!

Parent - Guardian. I beg of you. Don't talk to your child all the time. TALK  WITH  YOUR  CHILD SOMETIMES. Don't try to FORCE anything out of them. They would talk, but NEVER tell you the truth. Give them a chance to relax, be themselves and express themselves freely. That's when you'll know just what's on their heart. That's when they will tell you their inner most secrets.

Some of YOUR  CHILDREN are being fondled by teachers as you read. They aren't telling you because the teacher has threatened them and they are living in fear. Some of them have actually been MOLESTED by teachers, preachers, high society people too, maybe even government ministers, and the reason that they aren't learning isn't because they are DUMB, but rather they are PSYCHOLOGICALLY  TRAUMATIZED and have no one to talk to and talk with because you're ALWAYS  TOO  BUSY  WORKING  OR  AT  THE  GYM  OR  AT  THE CHURCH  OR  DOING SOMETHING.

Is your child or children afraid of their teacher or teachers or pastor or your BEST  FRIEND  THAT HANGS  AROUND  THE  HOUSE? Hmmmmmmm - Now you wonder why?

I'm hated very much around this place for opening the eyes of thousands and bringing them out of their FANTASY  WORLD  INTO  THE  REAL  WORLD  OF  LIFE  AND  STRIFE  AND POLITICS. I fear no one but God as I do what He has called me to do.

Probably you're reading this and you too were molested or hurt as a child growing up and you have a child now. Don't take it for granted! I know that this blog entry would reach thousands of people worldwide and is translated into over 50 different languages. There is a SPECIAL  VICTIMS  UNIT  at  your NEAREST POLICE  STATION!  CALL  NOW  FOR  HELP! Don't even be afraid if its a HIGH  SOCIETY INDIVIDUAL. Just be sure that you're telling the TRUTH. FACE  YOUR  FEARS!  That's the only way you'll get FULL  FREEDOM!

It's very sad that while you've been busy looking at everyone else's situation, and minding everybody's else's business, YOU'VE  PROBABLY  BEEN  NEGLECTING  YOUR  OWN  CHILD!

Ask UNICEF - Children Have Rights!

If you don't give your child LOVE, CARE and ATTENTION! Someone else will!
