HUNDREDS STRANDED - Bus Drivers in St. Kitts STRIKE After One of Their Own Shot Dead!

3rd November, 2014

By: Brother Khrystus V. K. Wallace, President of Dare 2 Be Different International - www.daretobedifferentskn.com since June 2008

PANDEMONIUM is currently in the capital of St. Kitts - Basseterre as we speak and hundreds of people that travel the WEST  SIDE  BUS  ROUTE  ARE  STRANDED and trying desperately to travel back and forth. Some want to return to work or head to work and others need the critically important transportation industry to get URGENT  MEDICAL  ATTENTION for their loved-ones.

Our Dare 2 Be Different International Media Department - www.daretobedifferentskn.com spoke with a representative from the West Side Bus Service Line, Mr. Melford "WHALER" Galloway who stated that today's ongoing bus strike was to show respect for the loss of their fellow bus driver Mr. Kevin Newman who was shot dead on Saturday, 1st November, 2014 between the White Gate area during a robbery attack.

Mr. Galloway, who goes by the name Whaler as he is affectionately known, one of the longest serving West Side Line Bus Drivers, and popularly known throughout the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis said that bus drivers have been complaining to Dr. C. G. Walwyn and The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for a long time about the current UPSURGE in Bus Robberies and no one has been doing anything about it and bothering with their reports as if they were not citizens in need of security and care too.

Whaler, along with dozens of other West Side Bus Drivers, who parked their buses at The Basseterre Bus Terminal and have been silently protesting outside Prime Minister Dr. Denzil L. Douglas' Government Headquarters since morning said, "It is really sad that one of our bus drivers had to LOSE his life for the Government and Police to see what we've been complaining about for a very long time and to show the entire world what has to happen in The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis for certain issues to get attention."

Whaler, who is known as a very quiet, reserved, to himself, mind his own business person was one of the most VOCAL bus drivers speaking out to those gathered around the peaceful demonstration outside The Federal Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Headquarters.

Another bus driver, Mr. Tristan Wattley from Boyds Village commented, "This isn't a political issue man. This is more than politics. We have been speaking out for a long time and it's sad to see what had to happen for the public to see what has been going on with us bus drivers trying to make a living."

Honestly, I didn't drive today, I chose to use the West Side Bus Service not knowing what was happening in the CITY  AREA and today's saga forced me to confess how CRITICALLY important the bus service is. I am a bit more fortunate and was able to make a quick call to a family member to pick me up, but the question now is - WHAT  WILL  HAPPEN  TO  THE  HUNDREDS  OF  OTHERS  TODAY - who are not that fortunate?

Our media house in doing more investigations into this matter has learned from a POLICE  INFORMANT that The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force RIOT  GEAR  DIVISION and Army have been asked by The Federal Government of St. Kitts and Nevis to stand by just in case things ESCALATE.

In other news from TIP  TOP  GOVERNMENT  CIVIL  SERVICE  INFORMANT, close to The Prime Minister via Whatsapp, only a handful of students and teachers at The Basseterre Senior High School showed up for work / school today. For over one year now, that school has been experiencing CRISIS over supposedly laboratory chemicals and other factors that have been causing both teachers and students to develop skin rashes and diseases, experience NAUSEA and other symptoms that have hampered their safe and stress free learning environment and kept them back from progressing successfully in their studies.

This is currently happening in The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and general elections are constitutionally due in January, 2015, but the Prime Minister has a grace period of up to three months after to have it called.

What will the Citizens of The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis do? That is the BIG  QUESTION!

Mr. Melford "WHALER" Galloway
