What does a retired St. Kitts –Nevis Government Civil Servant and Educator do with all the time on  her hands?

Well, she rallies her children and grand children together and starts a farm. Some probably will cooperate and others won’t as we all know children, teenagers and young adults.

Farmer Yvette Wallace and her son Farmer Lemercius Wallace and Grand daughter Farmer Tsurhenne Wallace are in REJOICING  MODE after they started harvesting their first crops having starting farming a plot of land in The Trinity Community at the middle of January, 2015, opposite their home just as a HOBBY  PROJECT.

Our Dare 2 Be Different International Media House spoke to Mrs. Yvette Wallace, M.Ed and asked her how does it feel plowing and farming at her age after being in the EDUCATION  INDUSTRY for over 25 years as a teacher, head teacher and retiring as an Education Officer. Mrs. Wallace commented, “I grew up with my father, Benjamin Thompson doing farming in the ghaut over in Brighton’s Estate – St. Kitts. Each of his children had their patch or row to farm what he told them to plant and take care of and this just brings back memories and keeps me fit and my mind properly occupied.”

For her son, Lemercius Wallace, a computer technician and musician who runs his own small business,  working the soil is something new for him as he and his other brothers were practically raised in the era of TECHNOLOGY and seem somewhat ADDICTED to the computing world.  Lemercius does seem to enjoy  helping his mother farm the plot of land in his spare time too and so does her grand daughter Tsurhenne Wallace who loves to put on the BOOTS and show off with her friends.

Our media house spoke to Brother Khrystus V. K. Wallace, aspiring Prime Minister of The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and he said, “God gives everyone a CALLING and I don’t think he has called me to FARM, at least not yet, maybe when I’m older and more settled, but I know though, THAT  HE HAS  CALLED  ME  TO  EAT  WHAT  HAS  BEEN  FARMED  BY  MY  MOTHER, BROTHER  AND  NIECE.”

Certainly, for those reading locally, regionally and internationally, heading into the primary industry, the world of agriculture and organic farming isn’t a bad idea at all as the global economy is constantly promote World Food Security. Growing food for personal consumption can definitely save one much money and also help to bless those living around. Our Dare 2 Be Different International Media House believes that Back Yard Gardening is essential!
