26th June, 2014

By: Dare 2 Be Different International Media Department

Report By: Brother Khrystus V. K. Wallace, The Next Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis

The Honourable Pierre Liburd, Senator and Minister of Youth Elect under a Blazing Star Movement Administration SHORTLY, touched down - SHOOK, impacted and inspired The Trinity Community in St. Kitts earlier this evening.

Honourable Liburd Elect, was today's presenter at the ongoing Capacity Strengthening Training Project organized by The Ministry of Social Services and Community Development directed by Ms. Azilla Clarke.

The topic under review this evening was, "The Teenage and Young Adult Population." Honourable Liburd Elect was the first presenter since we started, that chose to present from his TABLET and also use the chalkboard, chalk and duster. "Young people got all sorts of style see!"

I am very very happy that Honourable Liburd Elect is also one of my BEST FRIENDS. As a Senior Youth Office in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, I travel with him as a Youth Ambassador and Youth Voice to represent the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis overseas. Youth Director Mr. Geoffery Hanley figures that he is probably the only person who can get me to cool down when I take the microphone at a forum outside of my homeland - St. Kitts and Nevis, especially when I start talking about Youth Issues and advocating for better for youths and better for youth small businesses. That's my passion! EN TIT?

I also CANNOT sneak girls into my hotel room while overseas because as God would have it, Honourable Liburd Elect's room is usually close to mine and he knows very well that I'm a preacher. LOL.

Gosh Man! When will they start sending me alone? (I guess that is God's divine intervention) Settle Down People - I'm just KIDDING! Can't you take a little joke? Common man!

Anyways!

With regards to the discussion on teenage and young adults, several issues came to the forefront. Interestingly enough, since the sessions are attended by different age groups, from teens right down to great grandmothers, views and thinking always tend to vary a lot.

Let me tell you about a few of the topics that came to the fore. What are your views?

Should we totally abolish corporal punishment in schools and at home and as a NATION? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Imagine there were some long time adults arguing that the POTS  AND  PANS  THEY  GOT  IN  THE  OLD  TIME  DAYS  CAUSED  THEM  TO  BECOME  WHO  THEY  ARE  TODAY!

BRING  BACK  THE  POTS  AND  PANS  AND  HOSES  AND  ELECTRIC  WIRES  ME  SAY. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!

Other questions that sparked much debate and controversy were:

Can psychological methods of disciplining children and teens work in our nation?

Should a teenage girl who gets pregnant be allowed to return to school? Or should she "GO  LOOK  WUK?"

Should we allow teens to be expelled? Aren't  we creating more menaces to society when we do this without proper programs in place?

As I told you before, every session I seem to learn something NEW. An elder said. "Do you know that years ago in the CIVIL  SERVICE, if you got a child outside of marriage, you would lose your job?"

MEK  EVERYBODY  STARTA  GET MARRIED  DUGGIE -  MEK  DEM! LOLOLOLOL! This will help the nation to be better (QUITE  DEBATABLE)

Another elder jumped in and said, "It's because we keep watering down the laws, why our teenagers losing ALL  RESPECT for people and for society. The system is setting up children to rule the adults and telling them it is OK to do wrong and get away with it because NOBODY  COULD  HIT  THEM!"

Another elder, "If a teenage girl of mine BREED, when she done she GO  LOOK  WUK! Since she's a big OMAN, then she do what big women do. WUK!"

Honourable Liburd Elect took the time out to teach about RISK /  THREATS  TO  YOUTHS AND  YOUNG  ADULTS in detail.

Some of the INTERNAL  RISKS/THREATS include low self esteem, dyslexia, slow learning, psychological issues, hormonal changes, depression and anxiety to name a few.

Some of the EXTERNAL  RISKS / THREATS include Bullying, Peer Pressure, Sexual Abuse, Poverty, Hunger, Unemployment, Negative Environs, Bad Relationships, Divorce, Constant Parental Bickering.

Honourable Liburd Elect, stated that THE  LACK  OF  FATHERLY  PRESENCE  AND  INVOLVEMENT in the lives of many children and teens is greatly affecting them and affecting their proper future development. Fathers are key and they are needed in the homes and lives of all children and teens and young adults.

Honourable Liburd Elect was VERY  SURE to stress the importance of Father's Role in each child's life.

From the corner of the round table discussion, a gentleman shouted, "WOMAN  BAD  TOO!  SOME  OMAN  BAD  TOO!  He was quite angry indeed. He probably had an experience quite similar to one I had sometime before. (Interesting!)

I think that its about time that I stop talking and publicly commend Honourable Pierre Liburd Elect for a job well done on this international media forum! Certainly, the people of Constituency #5 can FINALLY  EXPECT  MUCH  HELP  FOR  THEM  COMING  VERY  SOON from a very abled YOUTH - my very close friend, Honourable Pierre Liburd Elect

On behalf of KVK ENTERPRISES - www.kvklives.com, Dare 2 Be Different International - www.daretobedifferentskn.com and The Blazing Star Movement, we would like to commend Sir Pierre Liburd for all the hard work that he continues to do in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment as a Government Civil Servant. CHEERS -  WE  LOVE  YOU!

Did you know that Honourable Pierre Liburd Elect is an artist and painter?

The Next time you see THE  PARTY BUS  ON  THE  ROAD - LOOK  AT  IT  VERY  GOOD!  It was creatively designed and painted by Honourable Pierre Liburd Elect Probable Future Blazing Star Movement Senator and Parliamentarian
