RURAL SCHOOLS ARE CERTAINLY SHINING AND MAKING IT HAPPEN in St. Kitts and Nevis!
The HISTORIC Tabernacle Edgar T. Morris Primary Grade 6 Symposium held yesterday Tuesday, 12th May, 2015 in the evening at the school was AWESOME, BRILLIANT and a RESOUNDING SUCCESS!
Held under the patronage of Education Officer responsible for the school, Mr. Daryl Lloyd, the Grade 6 Motivational Symposium got started a little after 5:30 pm and was well attended.
Under the theme Believe it, receive it and you will achieve it, Grade 6 and other attending students and parents were motivated and informed by several community speakers from across the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The more than amazing 24 year old chairperson and Grade 2 teacher Ms. Wrennelcia Thomas did a more than spectacular job with her energetic, charismatic, down to earth hosting. She must be publicly and globally commended and now I know who you and I should call to host our events EVERY TIME! Let's give it up for Ms. Wrennelcia Thomas (applause please?)
The opening prayer was offered by Tabernacle's Ms. Gilbert after which Head Teacher Kathuel Browne gave the principal's remarks. A past student of the Edgar T. Morris Primary School and a current Saddlers Secondary School rising star in the person of Trevicia Nisbett encouraged the soon to be graduants with a wonderful speech.
Right after, the Saddler's Secondary School Principal, Ms. Adina Richards gave her address. Well, well, well, everybody knows that Khrystus Wallace has no style. I had to give her a standing ovation for true! TRUE! TRUE! TRUE! I'm sure everyone thought I was CRAZY - you know people!.
Principal Adina Richards must be highly commended her for her presentation and I will feature her in a subsequent article and highlight much of the GOOD that is happening at Saddlers Secondary with this GIANT OF A WOMAN at the helm.
When people do good, WE MUST SAY THEY DO GOOD AND STOP KEEPING OUR MOUTHS SHUT AND ONLY TRY TO BRING THEM DOWN WITH OUR TONGUES!
OK! OK! OK! Let me settle down now and get back to my article!
The Edgar T. Morris Primary School Grade 6 Divine Dancers did a more than spectacular job then Chairperson Thomas called past Education Officer for the school, Ms. Lisa Pistana to give a short impromptu address.
Mrs. Pistana's eloquence gave me the chills. She was awesome and she spoke so fluently and unafraid having been called so suddenly. WOW! I did whisper it to her after as she was sitting very close to me. (If you do something good, I'm not going to keep my mouth SHUT eh or be ever afraid to write and tell the world about you eh!)
Tabernacle's Pastor Keith Phipps gave some very encouraging words as a past student of the school. He told students to LET THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS FUEL THEM TO SHINE and encouraged parents to invest in extra classes and activities for their children and do everything they can to fuel their children's dreams that would lead to their ultimate success.
Chairperson Wrennelcia Thomas, my newest friend from Tabernacle, who I'll feature in a subsequent article is multi-talented! She honestly impressed me when she paused from hosting to sing a motivational speech to the students and those in attendance. WHOAAAAAAAAAAAA. . . .oops. . .I'm "kinda" getting carried away.
The featured speaker for the event was Education Officer and the brainchild of the first historic Tabernacle Edgar T. Morris Motivational Symposium, Mr. Daryl Lloyd. Using a projector with a well put together power point presentation (as I am a VERY HARSH CRITIC), Mr. Lloyd's charisma and presentation drove home some key points such as:
1. Don't let small minds convince you that your dreams are too big!
2. Make wise friends! Friends can make you or break you!
3. Learn to listen to and talk with your child.
4. Do not procrastinate
5. Do not cram
6. Do not study in your bed and much more
As I type, I'm reliving yesterday evening. I got so much out of the event that will help me personally, so I am very sure that the students themselves were overly motivated and inspired too and certainly READY to give their promotion exams LICKS, LICKS and MORE LICKS shortly.
Our Dare 2 Be Different International Ministry certainly wishes Head Teacher Kathuel Browne and her Edgar T. Morris Primary School all the best. Yesterday, I was asked when our ministry would be coming back to help or do some activities with the school and I couldn't answer on the spot and give a direct answer, but let me answer here and now since I know that you're waiting on a response and before I forget.
When you need help from our Dare 2 Be Different International Ministry, JUST CALL or Whatsapp: 1-869-661-0118 or 1-869-765-7270. (We'll gladly assist where we can. Assemblies, Career days, t-shirt printing, sports days etc) JUST CALL - We're all about PROMOTING TOMORROW'S LEADERS!)
