HUGO  HORRID  CANE

Hugo - what a horrid experience!
Hugo - what a dreadful calamity!
Hugo - was there ever any mercy?
What a horrid cane - ing for these shores!

Whence came that sudden calm and deep depression?
Why suddenly a warning and a watch?
Whence came these fearsome winds and awesome fury?
What brought those devilish winds to scare our guts?
Hugo Hurricane! Hugo horrid cane.
Hugo Hurricane! Hugo horrid cane.

A thunder claps -
Grey clouds shoot horizontal rain -
Electric flashes light the Sunday sky.
Horrendous fury rushes 'cross these shores -
That Hugo comes.
Trees. . . .  felled with knifelike suddenness;
Homes tore apart like tiny shacks;
A demon hurricane was surely back - Hugo horrid cane.
Boats sank with toy like madness.
Precious little was in tact.
That hatefilled, brainless dragon, Hugo took its toll;
September 17, 1989.
FOR  NO  ONE  THINGS  WERE  FINE.
