The 28 year old founder of Dare 2 Be Different International - www.daretobedifferentskn.com, the six year old ministry that has been turning the world upside down for Christ since its start on 1st June, 2008 has extended 52nd Anniversary greetings to Pastor Lincoln Connor and the members of the Antioch Baptist Church today 5th March, 2015
Brother Khrystus who was a member of the church in his earlier years said that he is where he is today because of the sound Biblical teaching that he received from that Baptist Ministry.
Brother Khrystus commented, "On the 52nd Anniversary of Antioch Baptist, I want to humbly pause and say thanks to God for using humbled and abled men and women to impact my life through Antioch. It was Brother Bob Holbert visiting from North Carolina - USA who led me to Christ at age 10 during Vacation Bible School. Before him though, Sister Adelaide Stanley and the late Sister Icilma Penny did an awesome job instilling Godly principles in me in the Wee-Wisdom Class."
"Moving on to Junior Boys, it was Minister Euclid Osborne and Evangelist Laurence Knight's turn to continue drilling Godly principles in me. Moving on to Intermediate Boys, Pastor Lincoln Connor also did an awesome job teaching as we walked over the hill with chairs in our hands to have Sunday School by part of the Technical College. There is one exercise that he gave after a lesson that has forever stuck with me. He gave us boys a piece of paper each. We had to write down where we wanted to be either 5 or 10 years from now. I don't quite remember. What I can confirm though, is that the other day when I was doing some bedroom cleaning, I found that paper and read through it and ONLY ONE THING HASN'T COME TO PASS AS YET. I HAVEN'T GONE TO STUDY MEDICINE. It was AMAZING. On that piece of paper at Pastor Connor's Sunday School class, I wrote that I wanted to Graduate Valedictorian from High School and I did Graduate Valedictorian and EVERY SINGLE THING I WROTE DOWN HAS COME TO PASS ALREADY EXCEPT PURSUING MY MEDICAL DEGREE."
Wallace continued, "I was allowed a chance to start teaching after Intermediate Boys. I must commend again Evangelist Laurence Knight who was my Youth Leader at The Young Baptist Fellowship. He was just a humble, humble, humble leader who did an extra-ordinary job. It was Evangelist Laurence Knight who gave me the FIRST EVER OPPORTUNITY TO PREACH on Sunday, 17th February, 2002 in the evening service when the youths were conducting it. I just went to my Dare 2 Be Different International Ministry Office, as I am a very organized person to pull up my first sermon which was titled: IF YOU HAVE A TICKET TO TARSHISH THROW IT AWAY and the TEXT was: Jonah 1:1-3. Written in my handwriting in my Sermon exercise book, the AIM OF THAT SERMONETTE was to encourage persons / christians to begin to SERIOUSLY do The Master's Work."
"After that sermonette, Evangelist Knight carried me to every Saturday morning open air that he was hosting through his Youth Fellowship and always willingly GAVE ME A CHANCE TO PREACH many times and was never jealous at the gift that God gave to me as youth, and he being an adult."
"The Late Sister Icilma Penny and Sister Doldria Penny taught me in The Bell Choir and I looked forward after Bells on Saturdays to go and buy Chicken and Chips by TEEGO."
It was Pastor Lincoln Connor, who gave me the second major leadership role in my life after high school where I was President of The Verchilds High School Youths In Action. He asked me to lead the Training Union and that was the best and most impacting time of my life before moving on to accomplish GREATER THINGS AS CALLED BY GOD."
"I must make mention here of Brother Dameon Jacobs, the main church musician who was always readily available to help me practice The Training Union children for concerts and I must humbly thank Deacon Alvis Simmonds for being a good Choir Director during my stint in the Senior Choir."
"I can't close without mentioning Sister Marcia Jeffers. I will forever talk about her everywhere I travel around the world and use her example at workshops that I continue to conduct around the world. for ministries. She is etched in my heart, up to TODAY as one of the GREATEST PARTNERS AND HELP MEATS a leader could have ever had in his lifetime. UP TO TODAY, I STILL VALUE HER THAT WAY. Why didn't I marry her you're probably asking? Men tend to make some very grave mistakes and wrong choices in life that they tend to regret. But let's get back to on track. Sister Marcia was just OVERLY AWESOME with regards to helping me at The Antioch Baptist Church Training Union Programmes, Camps etc etc etc."
Brother Khrystus ended, "On this 52nd Anniversary of The Antioch Baptist Church, I want to put away any bad blood that may once have existed and ask forgiveness if I've wronged anyone when I left Antioch and started Dare 2 Be Different International - www.daretobedifferentskn.com on 1st June, 2008. At this crucial time in our nation, our region, our world's history, there is certainly no time for hate and anger, but only time for LOVE - LOVE - LOVE and FORGIVENESS."
According to the church's website, www.antiochbaptistskn.org, the ministry has a strong history.
Under the OUR STORY SECTION, it reads, "In the providence of God, the Antioch Baptist Church was organized as the first established Baptist Church in St. Kitts-Nevis on Tuesday, 5 March, 1963 by Rev. William Connor O.B.E and 21 born-again believers. The first meeting place was the Unity Friendly Society Hall on Wigley Avenue, Haynes Smith Village, Basseterre.
Two months after the Church was organized, on 19 May 1963, the first pastor, Rev. William M Connor was ordained at the Calvary Baptist Church, St Thomas, USVI. In 1964, the Antioch Baptist Church started a mission in Lodge Village about 6 miles from Basseterre. In 1976 the mission was organized into a new church—Mount Carmel Baptist.
Antioch organized another mission station in the village of St Pauls in 1965 which was eventually organised into the Calvary Baptist Church—now Calvary Baptist Tabernacle. Antioch administered the Calvary Baptist Church, for fifteen years from 1965 to 1980 when the church was handed over to Pastor Calvin O Hazel at the beginning of 1981."
The Antioch Baptist Church built its current place of worship in 1966. In 1986, the church acquired property adjacent to the existing facility at the time and constructed a Family Life Centre which serves as an extension to the sanctuary.
The Antioch Baptist Church is currently in the process of building a new holistic ministry centre at Limekiln Commercial Park in St. Kitts.
