In all my years of teaching children and teaching the story of RAHAB the Prostitute in Joshua 2, no child has ever asked me to define the term prostitute.
While teaching our Sunshine Corner (just like Sunday School but we gave it a much more exciting name), today a child stuck his hand up in the air and when I called on him, he asked, "Brother Khrystus, What is a prostitute?"
He honestly stumped me and caused me to pause. You see global friends, we are living in a changing world with fearless youths not afraid to ask questions and demand answers.
I wondered what was the simplest way to answer this question as all eyes were on me waiting for an answer.
I asked, "How old are you son?" He said, "8 years Brother Khrystus" and he was waiting for his answer.
Well. . . .we live in a changing world and I had to find something to tell him. When I had finished answering him, his little innocent self along with a few others covered their face with their hands and some started laughing.
The point I am trying to raise here and now is this. We live in a changing world with our young people who want answers to pressing and troubling questions. It doesn't make sense that we shy away from telling them the truth because what they don't know, they are WISE enough to search it out on the internet and find out."
I am not going to tell you the simplest way that I answered that question, but if YOU were the one teaching today and you got asked, "Brother Khrystus, What Is A Prostitute?" What would your response be?
